The Sustainability Plan brings together environmental, social equity and economic vitality goals that will serve as a roadmap for the campus and the broader Los Angeles region. The plan highlights the intersections of planetary and human health, and begins the work to ensure that equity, diversity, inclusion and justice are integrated in our sustainability policies and programs.
UCLA released its annual State of the Commute report for 2021
in a new digital format, covering student and employee travel behavior during the academic year. The big take-away in 2021 was the increased use of multimodal commuting, giving commuters the flexible, nimble service to blend transportation modes that work best for them by combining telework, driving, and occasional carpools or bus rides. Over the next several years, the university will greatly expand its EV charging infrastructure to help accommodate more than 2,500 anticipated daily charging sessions by 2030.

Childhood obesity is prevalent in the U.S. – more than 14 million kids are considered obese – and the problem has gotten worse over the past two years. “It’s fair to say that more physical education time could help fight the obesity epidemic," says UCLA's Dr. Rebecca Dudovitz.
